Charlene "Char" Dash is the founder of Live Wholehearted, a gospel-based nutrition and movement coaching practice for Christian women. She lost 75 pounds over 12 years — one small, faithful step at a time — and now helps women care for their bodies as an act of worship.
The Moment That Changed Everything
Char had been active most of her life, so when she tried wakeboarding one summer, it felt like something she should be able to do without thinking. Instead, the moment exposed how far her body had slipped beneath the surface of a busy life. Her brain knew the movement; her body did not respond the way it used to. She tried to stand, stumbled, and was pulled along in the water longer than she expected. Friends helped her back to the boat, but the experience left her shaken and embarrassed — and honest enough to admit it wasn't an isolated incident.
Within weeks, a doctor flagged several preventable health concerns. Char joined an online nutrition coaching program and began making small changes. But the real turn came when a simple phrase stopped her in her tracks: wipe the slate clean. She realized she had been treating her body by a different rule than her soul. The gospel she trusted for her heart had never been invited into the everyday work of food, movement, and setbacks. Inviting it in changed everything.
Twelve Years, Seventy-Five Pounds
There was no dramatic before-and-after moment. Char lost 75 pounds over the next few years — ten or twenty pounds in a season, then steadiness, then the next step. The pace wasn't a failure of discipline; it was the method. She was building habits that could survive real life: busy seasons, limited margin, a full household. Her husband joined the work along the way, and the changes held because they were never built on willpower in the first place.
Along the way she trained as a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Certified Nutrition Coach and a certified group fitness instructor through Revelation Wellness. The training gave her method and tools. The twelve years gave her something training can't: she knows what the road feels like.
How Char Coaches
Char starts small — one habit at a time, chosen so you're nearly certain you can do it today. A setback isn't a verdict; it's information. You wipe the slate clean and take the next faithful step, because the same grace that saves you also grows you. And you don't walk alone: her coaching runs on community, honest conversation, and Scripture that reframes identity, shame, and purpose around health. That conviction is why Live Wholehearted became a group experience — small cohorts of women walking the same road together.
"I lost 75 pounds not by superhuman willpower but by small, faithful steps lived out in the gospel. I want that for you — not perfection, but direction. You don't have to figure it out alone." ~Char
